Keeping with the theme of love this February, I have one more fun, romance book list: Friends to Lovers
This troupe is probably one of – if not THE – most realistic troupe. I believe there are a lot of people who have fallen in love – and maybe out of love – with their best friend. It’s a troupe that happens so naturally too. You’re hanging out with a friend that has only been a friend for so long and then BAM! Feelings evolve. Maybe the feelings have always been there hiding in the background. Maybe the feelings come unexpectedly. Nevertheless, the feelings are there.
Feelings for a friend give a character (or both) all the angst, a lot of confusion and a whole lot of questions: Should I tell her how I feel and risk it all? Should I not tell him and watch him fall for someone else? Would this ruin us? Are we better off as friends? Would we be better as so much more?
Same as Enemies to Lovers, a Friends to Lovers romance normally has one defying moment that changes it all. It could be an out of the blue kiss or a screaming match that results in a confession or a grand gesture that says it all. Either way, it’s highly entertaining.
So without further ado, here are some awesome friends to lovers with a quirky quick take or two……
Friends to Lovers
*shown in alphabetical order*
Being Brooke by Emma Hart: Being Brooke is the first Emma Hart book I ever read. Brooke, who has been in love with her best friend for ages, is one hot mess.
Call Her Mine by Melissa Foster: Childhood best friends that can never get the timing right…plus you’ll be swooning over Ben or have a crush on Aurelia.
The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez: Kristen and Josh don’t have a long time friendship but Josh is constantly placed into the dreaded friend zone by Kristen. This is also one extremely emotional read.
In Other Words by Jennifer Woodhull: A tech nerd and a former cheerleader. Yea, it’s a bit cliche but man is this on angsty!
Lingus by Mariana Zapata: One of the earliest books MZ debuted, Lingus tells a tale of Kat and Tristan, an actual porn star. The book is absolutely hilarious (probably a 3-4 star for me). Warning though…..this one is very hit or miss so proceed with caution.
Love and Other Word by Christina Lauren: Let’s me honest. Anything Christina Lauren writes is pure gold. Macy and Elliot’s friendship is no different.
The Roommate Agreement by Emma Hart: In her classic Emma Hart rom-com style, Emma provides for some serious laugh-out-loud moments as Shelby and Jay ponder their feelings for each other.
Until Harry by LA Casey: Read one emotional ride between Laney and Kale. Told in a then and now setting, Until Harry will pull at your heartstrings.
Wait For It by Mariana Zapata: I haven’t read a Mariana Zapata book I did not like. Wait For It is no exception. Diana and Dallas will make you swoon in this VERY slow burn.
Before you go…I know there are TONS of Friends to Lovers books out there. I only put books on the list that I have personally read. If your favorite is not listed, tell me in comments below and I will add it to my TBR!
