Interview

Why did you choose writing or why did writing choose you?

Writing definitely chose me. For as long as I can remember I had stories playing like movies in my head that needed to be written, but I was raising my six children and it wasn’t until I put my youngest on the bus for Kindergarten that I sat down at the kitchen table with my laptop and wrote until the moment he got off the bus. I have been writing ever since.

If you could choose any superpower, what would it be?

First and foremost, to heal all the sick. But if I can step away from the rational and play for a moment, I would want the power to make fictional people real. I’d love to hang out with my characters in real life, because they already real in my head.

What is your writing process like?

I write everyday, seven days a week, from September-June for about twelve hours, only in my office, and always with the music turned up loud. I am not the best plotter, but I do try and outline milestones before diving in. They always seem to change, but it helps to give me direction. When I do attempt to plot a story, the characters always throw me for a loop, and I have to say, I let them steer the ship. It’s their love story after all!

When you’re having a bad day, what do you do to make yourself feel better?

I like to start the day with energy and a clear mind and for me, working out does that for me. Writing would be my number two. Most of the time I can just close out the real world, turn up my music and dive into the words. If either of those don’t work, there is always chocolate.

What’s your favorite cheesy pick up line?

“If you sit there, and I pinch your butt, you have to buy me a drink.” It’s the line I used to pick up my now husband the night we met. It worked.

What would your perfect vacation entail?

I am blessed. I get to experience my perfect vacation every year. I spend two months at my house on Cape Cod, where I have been vacationing for fifty plus years. I spend time rejuvenating and enjoying time with my husband and family, and though I’m not writing a book while I’m there, I do plot my series and themes for my upcoming novels.

Give me one or three very fun fact(s) about yourself

  • I only use childrens’ character toothbrushes.
  • I always wear mismatched socks (matching socks throw off my mojo)
  • I despise fake chocolate

Books By Melissa Foster

Melissa Foster has SO many romance books and series. I have included the link to her website below so you can check them out yourself. My personal favorite series is The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor (pictured above).

The Whiskeys are a fun-loving, motorcycle riding family who are part of a Motorcycle Club that supports women shelters and the community. This is not your typical MC involved in illegal activities. Plus, the heroes are swoon-worthy and the heroines are strong-willed women. What’s not to love?

Melissa Foster’s newest release, Taming My Whiskey, is available now. It is one SMOKIN hot read! You can read my review and enter a giveaway here: Taming My Whiskey Review.
