Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Special thanks to Minotaur Books and Ellison Cooper for sending me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Buried by Ellison Cooper is an enthralling, unexpected surprise. I wasn’t sure if this book was for me but Ellison Cooper and her superior writing proved me wrong. I was quickly captivated by Agent Sayer Altair’s search for a serial killer who has been burying bodies in a cave for over two decades. I couldn’t put the book down and was sad when forced to (you know….when my family needed to eat dinner or when the dogs needs to be walked….LOL).

Agent Sayer Altair

Reader, if you have been following my reviews since the beginning or if you are fairly new, there is one aspect of a book that I absolutely LOVE and will point out every single time if given a chance….that is my love for a strong female character. Agent Sayer Altair is one of the strongest. She is one tough cookie (a total bad*** for those that don’t mind a little cursing).

Sayer works as an FBI agent and studies psychopaths for a living. She apparently took down a killer that lurked in the FBI in the first book of this series. She not only lost her parents at a young age but also lost her fiance. But you know what? Sayer takes the blows as they come with her head held high. She gets the job done. So it should not be a surprise that Sayer is the one called on to bring down a serial killer (spoiler alert…but not really) in this book.

The Suspects

Occasionally when I am reading a paperback copy of a book that I know I will be reviewing, I have a pen and paper on hand to make various notes observations. But instead of notes, I found myself physically writing a list of suspects…adding names as the story continued….slowing scratching off names when I felt fit. Playing along as a detective made the book all the more enjoyable.

Did I narrow my list of suspects down to the killer? I cannot tell. But I will say that I was on the right track but as with every thriller, the plot isn’t always what it seems.

Buried is as captivating as thrillers come. There are so many twists and turns. Everyone even for a sentence or two feels like a suspect. Although the case gets solved, there are still some unanswered questions to keep fans coming back for more.

One more note, Buried is book two in Ellison Cooper’s Agent Sayer Altair Series but it can be read as a standalone.
