Confessions of a Book Blogger

I’m still fairly new to blogging. Do I love it? Yes. Can it be too much sometimes? Also, yes.

I feel a little burnt today – this feeling is something I did not expect to feel so early in the game. I expected this in a year or so. But here I am. Burnt like a piece of stale toast.

I only blame myself. I signed up for one too many ARC reviews, blog tours and cover reveals this month…so many I haven’t been able to read much of my ever growing TBR shelf. I focused a little too much time on trying to find ways to get more followers (FOLLOW ME!) than my own happiness which negates why I started my blog in the first place.

I started this blog for fun. To share with the world the wide range of books and authors that I love (romances with a side of thrillers and fiction)… So, here’s a lesson to all newbie book bloggers, DON’T LOSE SIGHT OF WHY YOU ARE BLOGGING. I assume seasoned bloggers already know this…but maybe that need a reminder today, too?

Also, LEARN TO BALANCE…..I love working with the PR firms, Netgalley and the indie authors. I like posting blog tours because it introduces readers to new authors. I have found new authors to love thru them (Hi Jennifer Woodhull! Hi, Traci Finlay!). I have been granted opportunities to promote the authors I already love, too (Here’s looking at you Emma Hart and Penny Reid). HOWEVER, I need to learn to balance my love of that with my own blog wishes and needs too.

So today, I’m going to take these lessons to heart and reflect a little so that come June or July I can balance ALL my loves better. (Side Note: May is already full of commitments so balancing will be harder….I’m a Capricorn. I can’t stand missing commitments.)

Bloggers….have you felt burnt or are you feeling burnt as well? Comment below or send encouraging words if you want….

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend…..I’ve got a few cover reveals on my Instagram coming to you today and tomorrow. I’ve got an Excerpt and a Chapter Reveal coming too!

Happy Reading!

  1. I agree with all of this! If you’re burnt out, take a break. If blogging is a passion project, it should always be fun. And balancing out everything is definitely hard sometimes. As a Virgo, I definitely understand the need to stay on task!

  2. I’ve been blogging for many years but like you also burnt myself out. So I took a long break and restart blogging last year. With a calmer and relaxed approach to reading books. Because when it becomes too much reading no longer feels fun.
